Knowledge gives us the power to create and destroy, to lift spirits and crush souls, to completely change ourselves and those around us. As a facilitator of knowledge, I understand the importance of education. It's my life's goal to foster critical thinking, instill life-long learning skills, develop problem-solving strategies, and prepare students to function effectively in an information based society. To do this, I believe it is my responsibility to educate each student in a way that accommodates their personal style of learning. Open, flexible classrooms will create an atmosphere where there is equal control by the teacher and the learner. By encouraging students to voice their personal views, they can learn from each other and also discover answers on their own. I also believe that a diverse curriculum, one covering a broad spectrum of topics, will not only help students learn about the world around them, but more importantly, they will learn about themselves. A progressive education that encourages free-thinking, artistic expression, and scientific inquiry is the solution to some of humanity's biggest problems.
